The shortest of my adult ponies but still the coolest, Scootaloo!
Let's just pretend the shading isn't appalling, okay? I've been ill (again, bleh) and there are still 7 comic strips to go for this story! Made good progress today though, and some of them are short.
FQ (Foreseen Questions):
- "No flight?
" = I've always headcanoned Scoot as never flying (long before Faust said stuff to make it a "thing") but I only like it without angst. Pretty sure disabled folk have generally had enough of getting pity for being themselves, especially since some talent (athletic included) doesn't give two hoots about missing limbs.
- ""Wing-magic"?" = Pegasus ponies do not have the structure of a flying animal and don't flap nearly enough to justify "they're equine bees" as an explanation, so I'm on the side of them having magic that gets their wings to work as we see them. They are canon as having species-specific magic anyway, since they can walk on clouds.
- "Why is Scootaloo so short?" = She stopped growing before she finished school.
- "Why is everyone in this comic a weird height?" = Diamond Tiara, Apple Bloom, and Tootsie Flute are normal! Plus IRL I'm kinda short despite having 3 tall grandparents and 2 tall parents, so part of my growing up was waiting for my growth spurt that never came. Even my little brother's taller than me nowadays. :/ It's probably as a result of that that my adult pony designs have a mix of heights and how they got there.
- "Is that leather?" = No. Maybe.
I'm sure ponies can make good artificial leather anyway but if anyone asks I'm just going to say this is from a magic leather tree.
- "Have you ever seen a leather jacket?" = I tried to draw it, okay! I suck at drawing clothes so I just tried to simplify it and move on. I will put more effort into clothes when they're not part of a large comic strip that was meant to be done days ago.
- "Are Diamond Tiara and Scootaloo friends?" = If you look carefully you'll notice that this comic has some subtle hints that they don't get along.

Yeeeeeaaaaaah, Scoots, that jacket makes you look a little . . . ah, let's not say that. Let's say it makes you look like you think you're the Fonz, but aren't. Not that either of us have ever watched that show. Or that it even exists in your universe.
